In short: the free version keeps your place on your own device and HazeWatch stores nothing about you. If you create a HazeWatch Plus account, we keep your email and your saved places so the app works, and nothing else. We don't sell data or show adverts. Cloudflare counts page visits for us, without cookies and without tracking you. You can delete your account in the app at any time.
Who we are
HazeWatch is run by Kennedy Advisory, a sole proprietorship registered in Singapore (UEN 53527056M) and owned by Michael Kennedy. Contact: [email protected].

What we keep
Why
Free version (no account)
Nothing on our servers. The place you check is saved in your own browser or phone, and you can remove it with "Forget this place".
So your place is there next time.
HazeWatch Plus account
Your email address; your saved places (the name you give each one, postcode, address and map position); when you signed in; whether your plan is paid and until when.
To sign you in, show readings for your places, and manage your plan.
Sign-in codes
A record that a code was sent, used or guessed wrongly. The code and your sign-in session are stored only in a scrambled form (a hash) that can't be turned back into the code.
To keep sign-in secure and limit misuse.
Lightning alerts (iPhone app, HazeWatch Plus)
A notification address that Apple gives the app on your iPhone, and when each of your places last had an alert. Turning alerts off, signing out or deleting your account removes the address.
To send you lightning alerts, and not repeat them for the same storm.
HazeWatch Plus payments
Whether you have paid and until when, and the reference numbers Stripe or Apple give the subscription. Card details are handled by Stripe on the web, or by Apple in the iPhone app. We never see your card number.
To unlock HazeWatch Plus.
Services that handle your data for us
Cloudflare hosts the website, the app and the database. Our account database is held in Cloudflare's Asia-Pacific region. Cloudflare Web Analytics also counts page visits; it uses no cookies and doesn't track individual visitors.
Resend sends sign-in emails from [email protected], through its Tokyo region.
OneMap (onemap.gov.sg) turns a postcode into an address and map position. The postcode you type is sent to OneMap for this.
Google Fonts supplies the typefaces, so your browser contacts Google to load them.
Apple delivers lightning alerts to your iPhone (Apple Push Notification service). The alert text is sent through Apple.
Stripe takes payment for HazeWatch Plus on the website, and Apple in the iPhone app.
Air quality, weather and lightning data come from the National Environment Agency (NEA) through data.gov.sg. HazeWatch fetches that data itself; your details are never sent to NEA or data.gov.sg.
How long we keep it
Account data stays until you delete your account. "Delete my account" in the app removes your email, places and sign-in sessions straight away. Our database host keeps automatic recovery copies for up to 7 days, after which deleted data is gone from those too.
Your choices
Use HazeWatch free with no account, so nothing about you is stored by us.
See, correct or delete your saved places in the app.
Delete your account in the app, or email [email protected] and we'll do it for you.
Ask what we hold about you, or raise a concern, at [email protected]. We aim to reply within 30 days. Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) applies to how we handle your data.
HazeWatch Plus accounts are for adults. Please don't create an account for a child.
Terms of use
Information, not medical advice. HazeWatch shows NEA's published readings and NEA's guidance for activities. It isn't medical advice. If you or your child have a health condition, follow your doctor's advice, and check haze.gov.sg for NEA's full advisories.
Data as published. Readings come from NEA via data.gov.sg and may be delayed, incomplete or corrected later. Air quality is reported for five regions of Singapore, so a place gets its region's reading. Lightning detection doesn't catch every strike. When lightning or weather looks risky, take shelter whatever the app shows.
Independent. HazeWatch isn't affiliated with or endorsed by NEA or any government agency.
No guarantee. We work to keep HazeWatch accurate and available but can't promise it will always be either. To the extent the law allows, Kennedy Advisory isn't liable for decisions made using it.
Law. These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore.
HazeWatch Plus
HazeWatch Plus costs S$4.98 a year and renews automatically each year until you cancel.
On the website you pay through Stripe, and can cancel any time from the app page with "Manage or cancel subscription". In the iPhone app you pay through Apple, and cancel in your iPhone's Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions.
When you cancel, Plus stays on until the end of the year you've paid for. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. For website purchases, email [email protected].
If these terms change, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
